Join filmmaker Joe York and author Adrian Miller on Tuesday, October 18 at 6PM at MCA Denver at the Holiday for a night of film and food! Since 2003, York has created short films for the Southern Foodways Alliance, a Mississippi-based cultural organization dedicated to preserving the histories of Southern food and culture. For this presentation, York will screen his short documentary films To Live and Die in Avoyelles Parish; Cut, Chop, Cook; and Smokes & Ears. Following the films, York will be joined by Adrian Miller, an African American culinary historian to discuss the context of Southern food and what it means to communities in the South and beyond.
The event will begin with small bites of Southern cuisine, continue with the screening of York’s three films, and end with a discussion and dessert. Tell us…can you imagine a better evening?!
