Past Event: Healing Sound Bath @ MCA Denver 07/17/22, Doors 7PM
$0.00
This variant is currently sold out.
While undergoing treatment for cancer, artist Guadalupe Maravilla was introduced to sound therapy, a healing practice that uses vibrations produced by gongs. Now a part of his creative practice, Maravilla regularly hosts sound baths as a healing resource for different communities, including therapeutic workshops for immigrants, cancer patients, and those in need.
As part of his exhibition at MCA Denver, Guadalupe Maravilla has arranged for three trained sound healers to conduct four hour-long sound bath sessions in his gallery. Participants are invited to their own yoga mat or borrow one of the museums. Admission is free but an RSVP is required.
The sound healers will play Maravilla’s gongs, which are tuned to specific frequencies that resonate with the moon and other planets in our solar system, creating an immersive soundscape within the artist’s sculptural installation.
